CSB conducts its activities in line with the applicable legal framework, including Directive 2010/63/EU and its implementation in Spain (Royal Decree 53/2013). This framework establishes requirements for authorization, staff competence, ethical review, welfare standards and oversight.
CSB applies the 3Rs principle: Replacement, Reduction and Refinement, aiming to minimize animal use where possible and optimize welfare while supporting scientific objectives.
CSB maintains standardized procedures focused on animal welfare, biosecurity and operational reliability. Activities are performed by qualified personnel, within controlled environments and under the applicable oversight and documentation standards.
